Our Family History to discover, preserve and share.....

Our heritage influences who we are and who we become. Teaching our children and grandchildren about their family history provides an opportunity for them to understand and appreciate their heritage.
Discovering commonalities across generations fosters a sense of gratitude for their heritage as they learn about the trials and the struggles family members like their grandparents and parents endured so that they could live life as they know it today.

This site is intended to keep our family’s legacy alive with a rich set of values and ancestor history. It provides an in-depth database for our families to share and pass on our photos, videos, marriages, milestones, accomplishments, children and grandchildren, hobbies, recipes - all of which can be saved, shared and passed on to future generations. An online legacy that our families can be proud of.

Our Canadian-Italian Life begins

On March 11th, 1952, Michele Rumolo was one of the first "Rumolo's" who left Acerenza leaving behind his wife, Raffaela (Travascio) and son of four years, Antonio to begin a new life in Canada.

At that time, immigrants travelled the transatlantic by ship named Saturna e Vulcana, taking up to 10 days. The disembarkment was in Halifax, Pier 21, where they would then take a 2 day train trip arriving in Toronto.

In April 1953, Michele had sponsored his younger brother, Pasquale Rumolo, to live in Canada.  By 1954, Pasquale was living in Canada with Michele. The following year, Raffaela and Antonio (son) arrived in Canada on May 3rd, 1955.

In August 1957, Michele returned to Acerenza since his mother was ill. Sadly, Rosa Mancaniello-Rumolo passed away in 1957. In the mid sixties, Pasquale had sponsored his brother, Domenico and his sister, Angelina to come to Canada.
Their father, Antonio Rumolo remained in Italy and passed away in Acerenza in 1974.
